As a Member of the SFiB, you will be entitled to:
*Special discounts to our Society's activities and events.
*Priority booking to our Society's events and activities.
*Invitation to 'Members Only' events.
*As a Member, you will receive the periodic Newsletter, which contains news and information about the Society and its activities, and a variety of news, reviews, and interviews.
*Access to the 'Members' Directory', which we aim to publish soon. Members who consent to their names being included, will be listed in the Directory, alongside their professional position, skills, interests, and other information that is useful to other Members.
Membership Categories
1- Full Membership:
Full Membership is open to any adult aged 18 or above, who is:
a- Of Syrian descent or is a spouse of a person of Syrian descent, and
b- Lives or works within Britain.
Full members are eligible to vote on all issues put forward to the Annual General Meeting. Only Full Members are eligible for election to the Executive Council.
2- Associate Membership:
Associate Membership is open to:
a- Individuals who are not otherwise eligible to Full Membership, but express interest in joining the Society and promoting its mission and values, and are sympathetic to the Society's principles and objectives.
b- Former Full Members who no longer reside in Britain.
Associate Members are not eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting, and are not eligible for election to the Executive Council.
3- Student Membership:
Student membership is open to Student of Syrian descent, up to the age of 26 years, who are in full or part-time education, and living in Britain.
Student Members are eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting, but are not eligible for election to the Executive Council.
4- Honorary Members:
Honorary Memberships can be granted to contributors, sponsors, and other individuals, who, in the view of the Executive Council, have made significant contributions to the Society or made significant efforts to promote and support its mission.
Honorary Members are not eligible to vote at the Annual General Meeting, and are not eligible for election to the Executive Council.
5- Lifetime Membership:
Lifetime Membership can be granted to existing Full or Associate Members, who, in the views of the Executive Council, have made outstanding contributions to the Society, its causes, and its mission.
Lifetime Members enjoy all the rights and privileges of Full Members.
Annual Membership Fees:
Joint Full Membership: £30 per married couple per annum
Associate Membership: £15 per person per annum
Joint Associate Membership: £20 per married couple per annum
Student Membership: £5 per person per annum
Honorary Membership and Lifetime Membership are free.
How to Join
To become a Member of the SFiB, download the Application Form, complete, it, and send it, along with the appropriate Membership fees (cheques payable to "Syrian Friends in Britain") to the address stated on the form.
You will receive a confirmation of receipt of your application. Once approved, a confirmation of the Membership and a Membership Card carrying your unique Membership Number, will be posted to your correspondence address.
