A Day for Gaza... Our Most Significant Achievement...

Our Team with His Excellency the Ambassador
Our hard work and resolve have paid off!!..
We all had such a fantastic time that all the hard work and long hours that went into organizing the Day all seemed definitely worth it...
The turnout was amazing.. We had over 400 adults, 104 children between 5-12 years, and a good number of under-5s.. They all seemed to have enjoyed themselves, wandering around, looking at the stalls, buying stuff, and enjoying the delicious food... The children enjoyed the face-painting and henna art stalls, as well as the go-karting..
Our guest speaker entertained and informed the audience with his first-hand experiences about what life is like in the occupied Palestine, and everyone seemed to enjoy the auction, which saw the sale of some magnificent items, donated by our Members, friends, and supporters..
His Excellency Dr Sami Khiyami, the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic came all the way from London, accompanied by Mr Radwan Lutfi, the Embassy's First Secretary, to lend their support to our efforts.
All in all, we managed to raise just over £11,000!.. (£11,226.40, to be exact!!...).. This was way beyond anything any of us would have ever imagined!.. and this was only made possible because of the amazing hard work of our Council Officers, Members, an army of volunteers, and the generosity of our guests and supporters..
The Council Officers have worked so hard for weeks to organize this event, paying attention to the finest detail to ensure everything runs smoothly.. Not only that, but they also worked incredibly hard all day: supervising, co-ordinating, and getting very much involved in everything that was going on... It is truly a privilege to be working with such a wonderful team of sincere, selfless, and hard-working individuals..
Our Society's Members, and our friends and supporters helped us with their generous gifts and donations, and cooked most of the fantastic food that was available for everyone to enjoy.. The enthusiasm and generosity of our guests ensured that we collected much more than we ever dared to believe possible...
As for our fantastic volunteers, we cannot begin to express our deep gratitude to each and every one of you!.. Your work started long before the doors to the Hall were opened, and continued into the evening, well after the last stall was closed.. Your diligence, dedication, and immense hard work were what really made the event such a success... The SSiB is so grateful to you all, and so proud to have had the pleasure of working with you on the Day..
Congratulations on your hard work, and on this amazing achievement. The money that your hard work helped to raise will be finding its way to the people of Gaza very soon indeed...
Thank you and God bless you all..
