As you will remember, back in March 2010, we organized a Charity Concert to raise money for the SOS Children's Villages... A Violin Recital was performed by the World-renowned Syrian Violinist Mr Ashraf Kateb, and the performance was followed by a Charity Sale of Middle Eastern goods and food. As a result of your generous support, we managed to raise over £3,500 on the day!.. A fantastic achievement in its own right..
However, our efforts, and your generosity, did not stop there... We continued to sell some of the remaining items at other events that we have held since, notably the Mother's Day Gala Dinner... In addition, a number of our Members and Council Officers took it on their own to continue to sell some of the goods that were left after the Charity Concert, to try and boost the sums of money that we were raising for the Syrian Arab Association for SOS Children's Villages.
In the end, we managed to raise a total of £6,400 from all our activities and sales... As agreed before, £400 of the amount raised were sent to the SOS UK Haiti Earthquake Orphan Appeal, leaving a magnificent £6,000 for the SOS Chldren's Villages in Syria...

The SFiB President, Dr Ayman Jundi, was on a short trip to Syria in early May, taking part in an important venture, training young Syrian Doctors on the management of Severe Trauma. He took the opportunity of being in Syria, and contacted the Syrian Arab Association for SOS Children's Villages, to arrange for the money that you have donated to be delivered to its intended destination: The SOS Children's Villages in Syria...
Ayman was invited to the SOS Village in Qodsaya, near Damascus, where a small but elegant ceremony was held. The Director General of the Syrian Arab Association for SOS Children's Villages, Mr Bassam Badran, and the Association's President, Mrs Madiha Anbari, gave brief welcoming speeches, and Ayman responded by giving an overview of the SFiB and its activities, and how the Charity Concert came about... Then, the SOS Children gave a few excellent performances, as an expression of their appreciation for the efforts of the SFiB Members. After that, Ayman handed the cheque to Mrs Madiha Anbari, the President of the Syrian Arab Association for SOS Children's Villages. She then presented him with a Certificate of Gratitude to Syrian Friends in Britain, as well as a 'Thank You' letter to our Members
